From Perceptions to Emotions and Behaviours that reinforce Perceptions

Do you know that people’s emotions and behaviours are influenced by their perceptions? According to Beck J. S. (1964), it is not a situation in and of itself that determines what people feel but rather the way in which they construe a situation. In other words, how people feel is determined by the way in which they interpret situations rather than by the situations per se, thus people behave in a "certain way" to cope and deal with the "feeling" arise.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ("CBT"), is one of the key approaches used in #Arkcc to help our clients in dealing with their negative thoughts, emotions and feelings. Most importantly, to cultivate modification and changes to the unwanted or "not so good" behaviours that is really out of control.

How? CBT works on the assumption that it is thoughts that govern behaviours. Therefore, thinking in a different way will lead to changes in feelings and behaviours. We help our clients to understand their current ways of thinking and behaving, and by equipping them with the tools to change their maladaptive cognitive and behavioural patterns through structured assignment in a collaborative empiricism environment.
